Our MultiPoles
MultiPoles are made from SED, Uglie, and UniLog poles. These are high quality Radiata pine logs that have been sourced from sustainable forests using responsible logging contractors.
To make these logs into MultiPoles, most of the heartwood core is removed through a specialised process. This process is a first for New Zealand and possibly even for the world!
Natural strength
The MultiPole’s unique hollow core runs the full length of the pole. Removing only the heartwood does not reduce strength, which is retained in the outer sapwood layers.Greater penetration of preservative
The MultiPole’s hollow core allows for preservative to be impregnated from both the internal and external faces. This results in a more durable, longer lasting product.Less checking and splitting
Removing the heartwood ensures less checking and splitting as the pole dries out.Ability to enhance strength
For added strength, the hollow core can be grouted with reinforcing bar. MultiPoles can also be drilled and concrete encased.Lightweight
MultiPoles can easily be transported and handled on-site, allowing large numbers to be installed per day.Non-damaging installation
MultiPoles can be vibrated into the ground using high frequency vibration.
Our foundation systems use three types of MultiPole
• Pole with a machine-peeled finish
• Each SED pole is carefully graded and selected for straightness, even taper, regular sizing, and consistent quality.
• Naturally tapered: 6mm / m
• Diameter range: 150mm to 550mm
• Length range: 1.8m to 22m
• Debarked instead of peeled. A stronger pole due to less removal of the cambium layer.
• 6% stronger than a SED Pole
• The Uglie’s rough finish makes it an ideal pole for foundations where skin friction is important.
• An economical option
• Naturally tapered: 6mm / m
• Diameter range: 150mm to 550mm
• Length range: 1.8m to 22m
• The log’s natural taper is removed, resulting in a constant diameter and even finish.
• Ideal for level applications, or situations where the pole will remain visible.
• The UniLog is also used to make the MultiPole UniLog Grooved Bearer, a specialised bearer product. This type of bearer has grooves machined into it to receive a concrete tray deck.
• As bearers and beams, Multiple UniLog poles are significantly stronger than equivalent sized sawn timber.
